Erica N. Stewart, Psy.D
Clinical Psychologist, NJ

Dr. Stewart is a Clinical Psychologist with experience working with diverse populations across the life span. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Hampton University and continued her studies at Drexel University, receiving a M.S. in Biology. After working as a scientist conducting Parkinson’s Disease research, Dr. Stewart returned to school to earn her doctorate in clinical psychology with a multicultural concentration from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University, completing her internship working with veterans at the VA New Jersey Health Care System.


Over the course of her professional training and career, Dr. Stewart has provided therapeutic services to various settings including the Counseling, Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) at Rutgers, The Haven at Piscataway High School, the Rutgers Foster Care Counseling Project (in collaboration with the Division of Protection and Permanency), the NJ Couples Clinic at Rutgers, the World Trade Center Health Program, Clinical Center of Excellence at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and the Rutgers Psychological Services Clinic. In addition, she has served as Program Coordinator for the GSAPP Hope and Healing Program, which provided crisis counseling services for individuals and families affected by Covid-19.


In her current roles at Serenity of Mind Counseling & Therapy, LLC and Culture of Wellness PLLC, Dr. Stewart provides psychotherapy for college students, adults, couples and families from varying populations. She specializes in the treatment of trauma, mood disorders, and relational issues. Utilizing various approaches, she tailors treatment to the needs of the client, pulling from psychodynamic, systems, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral and attachment modalities. Most importantly, Dr. Stewart seeks to meet clients where there are, creating a non-judgmental, safe space to foster rapport, allowing the client to be their true self.


Dr. Stewart’s research interests include the state of Black couples and the Black family, the future of Black males in America, and stigma within ethnic minority communities.
